To me, it seems that most people hate the Mistika for various reasons, but I personally love them. Even the Toa. Like, Mistika Onua is my favourite Inika build set (if we don't count Toa Ignika who's a "large" set). I liked the Phantoka as a kid. When I first saw that poster with Lewa as the poster boy in late 2007 I immediately wanted him and Tanma (also Chriox and Kirop). But even as a kid, the Phantoka wave felt like the first one that didn't really add anything new to Bionicle as a "system". And in 2007 they introduced a lot of new stuff, the new armour pieces were so versatile, but the Phantoka didn't really use them to their full extent other than using one part from 2007 per set. It felt like they were just adding the "flavour of the month" gimmicks to stuff we already had, plus they put a huge portion of the budget into the Matoran builds which took away a lot from the "main" sets. And to me, the Mistika corrected all that. They introduced a lot of new pieces. I loved that new shield piece. I loved the new chest plate shared across Onua and Krika. I loved Gali's shoulder plates, etc. The more piston-heavy and mechanical aesthetic of the Toa with the guns was cool. And I liked that the Makuta used both Inika build and Av-Matoran pieces, using them to their full potential. I also thought it was cool that they reintroduced the Metru chest plate around 2007-2008. Like, it was meant to be a highly specialized piece, but when they switched to the Inika build it gained a lot of new potential which the designers used well.
