The old 1/144 Wing models are definitely showing their age. If someone were to paint them, they'd have to do a ton of work on them and unless you've got friends who enjoy painting models, you're not going to get them done cheap.
I'd argue, your best bet is either something like the Robot Damashii figures, pre-assembled and quite nice, or if you've got some cash to splash and are able to build and maybe panel line, get the Master Grades and some matt topcoat. Pic related, it's the Heavyarms Master Grade with some decals and panel lining.
They're a heck of a lot better looking and more display worthy than the old 1/144th scale models. You'd be spending a fair bit on them thanks to shipping and customs import, and you'd still have to build them. If your shakey hands are as bad as you say I don't know if you'd do to well with the panel lining or decals, but even if you just build them and top coat them, you'd get some good looking models out of them. Might be best to start small if you want to do this route, they made a brand new 1/144 Leo recently, he's cheap and cheerful, about £7 or so, and I've heard nothing but good things about it. Give him a build, see if you enjoyed building him and go from there. The gunpla/plamo threads on /toy/ and /m/ will give you advice if you need anyway too.
