>>9616185>I feel like sofubi is like an NFT of toy world. Only few rich people can grab them when they released and they are even more expensive on a second market.I see what you're saying and its not 100% wrong. Shit like pic related being sold for thousands is 100% the same dumb hype based commodity market as NFTs. But there are also really big differences: NFTs are weird because they're a chunk of crypto with a stupid picture stamped on them. People don't buy them for the terrible art, they buy them as a rare commodity with the hopes of selling them. They're classic speculator market bullshit akin to beanie babies. Sofubi are expensive because they're generally made by individuals in very small numbers. The price is, for most, the result of the cost of manufacturing. Hell, just getting the molds made for a Sofubi figure costs over 10 grand.
>Only a few rich people can grab them. Not really. 1000 dollar figures are actually pretty rare. The majority are in the like 100-300 range, with some dropping even sub 50. Now obviously thats a lot more than your average NECA or whatever but its not absurd. Import figures and third party transformers are often in that range. Buy a couple figma and you're easily in that 100-300 range. If you're buying dozens of Sofubi a month then yeah, that bill is gonna get high, but one a month or so isn't going to break the bank of anyone who has a halfway decent job.
>Im surprised those ape fucks didnt make any sofubis that cost 10000-50000 dollars or somethingSofubi unfortunately requires effort and artistic talent. You have to learn aspects of manufacturing, make deals with factories, learn to paint, etc. And you'd never be able to sell for 10K let alone 50K. The only people who ever EVER sell for anything close to that are well known and established artists who usually started outside of the toy business.
