We take artists for granted still and we sort of expect these designs to come out the aether. Comic fans tend to be the only ones who know individual artists on average, meanwhile despite knowing Ben Procter, Feng Zhu, and Josh Nizzi are among some of the movie designs, we just call them Bayformers. T-beast was a doujin that just sort of dropped done by multiple artists years ago, got figures a few years after that, and it got the attention of the artist, more for worried they'd get into legal trouble than being upset they were using his design in general.
Funny enough they also did that Megatron design Don wasn't paid for.
