Mutant Madness is specifically focused on the 87 cartoon and everything around that era. Its Karai is a mash of her appearances in both the Genesis and SNES Tournament Fighters, its Fugitoid is based on the Playmates one. Renet is the only one, as far as I know, that's made from scratch.
They're both on maintenance mode anyway, the point here is that they let this mobile game make '87 versions of characters that weren't in the show.
