>>6759146There's more than one way, you could still sort your parts by general groups like you were doing, but with a pile for the oddball parts that don't fit into any other categories. Sometimes it's better to just make an arbitrary decision based on where you'd look for the piece, or do it by hierarchy (towballs>pins/axels>half liftarms>liftarms). It doesn't really matter how specific you get, but I tend to sort by liftarms, half-liftarms, limb parts, axels/pins, torsos and armor, shells, feet, heads, gears, weapons, mata-neck-like parts, and so on. Then once you've done that, you can sort your soft-sorted piles into plastic bags. This will give you a good idea of how many containers you will need and what size. You will probably be able to get most of your collection properly sorted into under a dozen 12ish quart tubs, and for smaller parts, get some screw cabinets or bead organizers, preferably with removable separators or modular drawer sizes. Oh and don't forget to bathe any used bonkle in dish soap and warm water before you get started, anything played with by children is a biohazard, especially legos.
