I have several figures that I'm sure are bootlegs, but the quality is surprisingly good so I don't mind it at all. I know that supporting the original authors is good, but when an actual figure is $250+ and the bootleg is $20 but looks almost exactly the same and is stable/won't warp, I can't justify the high cost.
With that said, NEVER buy bootlegs of figures that only stand on one foot, they always inevitably bend.
I've also been buying some of the bootleg Lego sets lately, and I have to say, they are getting surprisingly good in quality, very close to Lego. And some of the original designs that aren't based off an existing set are rather fun, it leaves me scratching my head as to why Lego never did some of these even when they had the licenses.
