>>9209873I weep that Chronicle Collectibles went belly up and we missed this guy.
I understand the mattel line is meant to be an affordable adult line, but I dont think its a true collectors line. At best its a mass-produced product with a veneer of exclusivity. There is a segment of collectors willing to pay more for accurate, highly pose-able figures. I think (hope) its only a matter of time before of the figure companies gets the hint and begins producing such figures.
I think the AC is not bad and it started very promising, but I just cannot get behind the clown feet, blunt teeth, constant repaints, and lazy human sculpts. IMO some of them are downright creepy looking and they dont have to. I've had to customize my raptors to my liking, but I'll gladly pay for a figure I don't have to do that to.
I may get the baby rex/compies and if they ever release a gallimimus, that will be it. I don't see them doing large species.
I'll give Mattel massive credit for doing the super colossal figures, those were a big void in the JP collectors community. They're defintiely not perfect, but only a multi-billion dollar corporation can put out a Brachiosaurus, Apatosaurus and t-rex at such a size and for an affordable cost.
