His hair was tall because it stuck straight up but it didn't grow larger the hair length he had in base and super Saiyan form just stood up straight. Beast (which is an awful form name) Gohan's hair is incredibly massive, grew 2-3 times what his base form hair length is and is all straight up in the air for no reason.
