We re-dress them, pose them for photos etc.
And unlike with other toys they often have parts that are pushed on top of each other too, so you not only have sockets and joints rubbing together but your chest could rub across the upper stomach part when trying to make your doll slouch.
Even a simple body blush (i.e. just adding a little color to the muscles for a little more realism) is a pest to keep nice.
