>>5760830The Dingoes were the main team in an awesome Dreamcast game called Gundam Side Story 0079: Rise From the Ashes (which I still play from time to time!), and the GM Sniper II was the final suit you could upgrade to. IIRC you normally unlocked it just before the final battle, but you could go back and replay any of the older missions with your shiny new Sniper II. The Sniper II was an awesome suit in the game (in stark contrast to the Sniper II's performance in the 0080 OVA, where they served as mere cannon fodder for the Kampfer), so for fans of the game/team it's an easy purchase!
Even if you're not familiar with the game though, there's a lot going for the Dingo GM. First, it has the awesome beam sniper rifle versus the regular GM's conventional slug rifle. Second, it has a unique shield that has prongs attached to the front similar to the Ground Gundam's shield. Third, you've got the neat gunpod attachment on the Dingo's head. But above all, you have that totally sweet blue/white color scheme for the Dingoes plus that awesome tampo of the team symbol on the shoulder! The striking color scheme is definitely my favorite thing about the Dingo GM.
Those are all fairly subjective 'pros' to be honest, and are probably heavily influenced by my affection and nostalgia for the Dingoes, haha. The Dingo GM doesn't actually do anything differently than the regular GM (it's just as awkward getting the Dingo GM into firing poses with its unwieldy rifle as it is with the regular GM), it just comes with different stuff. If you don't have that Dingo nostalgia and the color scheme doesn't really do it for you, you don't really need to pay the premium for the Dingo GM.
Still, they are excellent figures, and as you said I think they'd make for a very cool addition to an Australian Gundam fan's collection! Just know that you aren't necessarily getting a superior figure over the regular release, just a different one.
