The props the suit actors use are bigger than the ones the face actors use. The face actor's props are essentially dolled up toys sometimes, but still DX sized. CSG is trying to make the "gigantic" show accurate props which include their size. The other reason is money, this way these weapons will have less complicated electronics inside them and they don't have to be compatible with anything else.
