Legacy Animated Optimus is another disappointment. While the robot mode is far better in person, the truck is a steaming wreck compared to the sleek perfection of the classic toy. How could they not hide the feet? Why not just make it transform similarly to the old toy instead of overcomplicating it, giving it a shitty truck trailer, stressed plastic clips out of the box, and a needlessly involved conversion method?
I cannot grasp the reasoning behind changing what worked for the worse. Steal the old design, make it blocky, remove the gimmicks, give it more articulation, scale it down. Bam, it would look better and I'd hate myself less while transforming it.
Oh, and the mushroom pegs came with excess plastic ridges that I had to trim down with an exacto, and I'd have torn the peg off or twisted it out of the socket if I hadn't. Seems like QC is dropping along with designer intellect.
