The 1.0 era ran from 2009-2015. During this time we had some new innovations, like the addition of knee caps and diaphragm joints, but nothing was referred to as "2.0" until the Tamashii "Fighting Body" was announced and DB Figuarts got the new packaging, starting with awakening goku.
The most obvious introduction was the new floating crotch spacers, which have been a staple for at least 50% of releases and have led to it being coined the "2.0" hips.
People have been obsessed with the prospect of a 3.0 era and convince themselves everytime they see something new that it is the beginning of a new era, the SS4 crotch being a prime example. The reality however is if you look back at some of the older figures, they use this exact same design. People just call it a 3.0 because it's the first time it's been used on Goku and because the new SH Gohan body is expected to be the 3rd mold to be used as the welfare Goku buck.
