Stores like Walmart and Target have traditionally put movie toys on sale the week that a movie is to be released. Why would they put those toys on sale if the movie is going to drive sales like crazy for the next month whether its on sale or not?
Because they'll sell a lot more products that way.
Dem sexy revenue numbers to make investors happy, because even operating at a loss doesn't matter, hence companies like Amazon not turning a profit for 15 years and still being called one of the most successful companies to ever exist.
No doubt, stores like Walmart and Target are turning a profit, whereas Amazon was taking all those losses to gain a consumer base and steal market share away from Walmart and Target.
Amazon is making a profit now, but check out dat slim margin.
So despite putting shit on sale, they're still making a profit (one way or another).
