The "cracks on its own after a while since the parts can't handle the stress of being connected" problem still persists.
A while ago I posted a moc made from that Yoshi's House where a giant Yoshi is touching a Fuzzy which was like what, a month or two ago.
I built it back shortly afterwards and didn't touch it since then.
Now half of the tan 1-stud wide pieces developed cracks on their sides and there are VERY noticeable edges between the pieces (you can see how it formed some "steps" on the side pointing up) since it literally tears the pieces apart.
I actually tested something out and there definitely IS a difference between new and old bricks.
Take a new simple 1x1 brick, put it on a stud, grip it gently with two fingers and lightly rotate it around on the stud - something forces the brick off as if there is something wrong with the geometry or material and you can definitely feel the stress behind the connection.
Now do the same with an old one (and I mean something like 90s and older) - the brick rotates in place and nothing forces it off.
