So I’m about to begin working on my 1/35 Guren and I plan to paint its right arm using metallic silver spray paint. I’m debating if I should top coat the finished arm or not since I remember reading that any topcoat will dull the finish/shine of the metallic color. I also heard that clear gloss varnishes work well with metallic finishes but I don’t want the arm to look glossy. Pic related is the robot spirits Guren (not the kit I’m about to build). See its arm? This is the finish that I want to achieve.
Is it really necessary to topcoat metallic finishes? If so, should I opt for gloss or semi gloss? Cheers
