A history of the line for anyone interested:
The first Fashionista line appeared in 2009 and it was itself a sort-of-kind-of reboot of the Fashion Fever line. The concept behind the Fashionista line was to appeal to the fashion side of Barbie and compete with similar "teen" dolls released at the time that were all about hip fashion and style. All the dolls had boxes in different bold colors, labeled with name/ theme meant to describe their personality and style. Wild, Sassy, Sweetie, Artsy, Sporty, etc. The Fashionista line included the basic dolls and expanded with doll sets, fashion packs, etc.
Then in 2011 the line got a slight makeover. They reduced the number of Artsy/Cutie/etc dolls, and introduced more general Fashionista dolls labeled as "Barbie," "Teresa," other names, etc; the boxes started getting more cohesive instead of varying character by character. By 2013, the boxes were a lot cuter (lots of bright pinks and purples) and they started removing the name and style labeling from the boxes.
In 2014, the line was rebooted with posed dolls which all had the same Barbie Pink box.
The "Style" dolls were effectively, in 2014, what Fashionista used to be: dolls with knee/elbow/wrist articulation with nice fashions.
In 2015, the Fashionista line was rebooted again with the black boxes and the 8378943943 different skin colors and styles. In 2015, the Style dolls were degraded in quality--now they only have arm articulation or in some cases, no articulation at all.
So now in 2016 we have multiple body types, but still stationary poses, for Fashionista.
