>>7402716>GI Joe did poorly, the sequel I MEAN reboot or... whatever they called it, did worse.Rise of Cobra did bad, and the release of Retaliation got delayed and fucked things up, it was better received though and a much better movie in general. It gets a lot of play on tv these days.
>Jem was so bad Hasbro had much less say at the time when things like that were coming out. They botched things though by farming out properties to IDW to reinvent, with Hasbro issuing statements on lines such as GI Joe, saying they were going to try and appeal to millennials with it, believing that young people don't like guns, or pro-Americanism, or the military in general.
https://www.cbr.com/gi-joe-reboot-taking-millennial-approach/This of course led to the horrible Hasbro comic universe, which famously had the GI Joe comic writer essentially fired after Hasbro responded to tons of angry GI Joe fans and fan sites protesting his comic after he mocked people for mourning 9/11 on twitter(it was some what of an excuse though, because there were lots of reasons to hate the writer besides this).
>I'd easily see Disney stripping Marvel
That's one of the reasons I feel it's more rumor that Hasbro would lose the Star Wars license. Theoretically I think Disney could possibly leverage Marvel as a reason to continue high licensing for Star Wars toys. We'll have to wait and see.
