Doll collector here. I rarely watch the accompanying media because it's made for very young children and hard to sit through as an adult. Old MH and EAH being the exception, those were appealing to all ages, but new MH is toddler drivel like the rest now. So yeah I've bought more than half of my dolls without ever seeing the related shows.
In contrast on the rare occasion I buy figures, it's from IPs I know and am very passionate about, since I'm not much of a figure fan.
