I think most of the people that were scattered around different communities ended up flocking there together. Honestly theres a bit of autism in it but most of the people aren't too bad, and there's even sales channels of people selling things they have, claims on lots from Japan/other countries and store pickups for people who live by the Pokemon Centers to get stuff.
NintendoMerchCentral usually posts stuff either from there or other retailers and so does PokeJungle sometimes but not every single release.
Its a shame for all the dedicated Pokemon fansites theres not really one specifically to the merch side of the fandom. Pokevault sucks but if you're on the mailing list (or just go to the "New releases" page) you can see the latest stuff thats out. The owner usually goes to the Pokemon Center the day of release to get stuff.
