>>9358603>>9358643I can get this. I know when I first started collecting I was only really interested in the super detailed and "Realistic" stuff. Mostly Groman and the like. But as I collected more, and especially as I started painting my own, I really came to appreciate stuff like elegab here.
It really does take talent and an artistic eye to do minimalist paint jobs in a way that looks good and emphasizes these "Child-like" or almost Dr. Seussian designs. You really have to be careful in your choice of colors, your areas of application, your directionality of the sprays, etc. Not to mention the fact that it pays homage to the classical style of sofubi painting from back in the original godzilla/ultraman days.
A lot of sofubi is easy to dismiss off hand, especially for the prices given. And even I will say that a lot of sofubi (Especially popular ones and godzilla stuff) IS overpriced due to hype. But I think dismissing something simply because it looks "Childish" is a silly idea.
