Same for the Rankin-Bass cartoons; in fact, I consider their designs for orcs, goblins, and especially Gollum to be the definitive ones.
I wish Super 7 or somebody would make Rankin Bass figures.
I also love their hobbit designs; they didn't look human. They had a kind of "Dr. Moreau," feel to them - like they were humans mixed with chipmunks or beavers or something. Maybe part gopher or something; I dunno
Maybe the Prairie People, the natives of New Texas from the old Bravestarr cartoon, are descendants from Hobbits.
The whole, "they look just like tiny humans but with big, hairy feet," aesthetic for Hobbits has never worked for me.
But, what're ya gonna do? There's room enough in the lore for everybody's imagination, I guess; that's what so neat about it.
