I remember a long time ago having a brief stint in a Skype group (yes, that long ago) where one person explained to me that he finds "sfw plush enthusiasts" creepy. Personally I just keep doll collecting a personal thing that I occasionally talk about with my family and here. You don't need to align every interest with a discord group.
I generally understand your feelings though. This is separate from doll/plush collecting but I'm a big fan of the Ghibli movie Ponyo, its art and lore etc, but a lot of english language discussion of it I found on twitter was just age regression people? It gave me a pit in my stomach cause like, I want to enjoy something sincerely but people just use thing as a means for something else. Oh well!
