They're test concepts for transformations from the days before CAD so these weird clunky protos are charming. There's even some pics of an attempt at using a rubbercover system to hide joints to make the beasts more seemless, which is impressive for the 90's. This is one case where the stupid forum drama leakage actually is interesting.
