As someone who owns many Beast Boxes, I have several favorites - the things I tend to look for in them are complexity of transformation, articulation of the animal mode, and 'cleanness' of the cube mode. Cuteness is also a factor (obviously) and is usually what dictates which ones I buy.
Since I have so many, I've narrowed it down to five specific boxes; I love them all, but these ones are the 'outstanding' ones I'd recommend to people new to the franchise.
I'll start with Bloodstone and Vaporwave - Bloodstone is the kaiju and Vaporwave is the mantis. Both of these characters have a lot of articualtion - Bloodstone's limbs have balljointed hips, shoulders, knees, ankles, elbows and wrists, plus his tail and head can move around quite a bit; Bloodstone's mouth opens and he comes with a breath effect that can slot into it. Transformation to box mode is relatively simple but fun - his head suck into his chest, his neck basically turns inside out to cover the gap, his arms and legs tuck in and his tail splits in half and folds over the rest of him, revealing some cool clear plastic areas. Subzero is a recolor of him, while Trashard and Jawbreaker are retools (an Ankylosaurus and Stegosaurus).
Vaporwave is really neat to look at - she's covered in metallic paint over her clear parts that give her a gossamer sheen, and you can do all kinds of poses with her triple-jointed legs and big claws; she's also really good at holding things. Lorewise, she's an assassin with amnesia, so that's cool. She shares a mold with Reaper, who will be much easier (and cheaper) to find than her.
