I like to imagine that the Infiltrator, Kobra Khan, and Rattlor/Tung Lashor have each spent years slowly infiltrating the 3 other factions and are readying to strike. Meanwhile Skeletor has been slowly growing his army of undead to rival Randor's and Hordak's foot soldiers-his 5 regular goons won't be enough to hold Snake Mountain.
