>>1093958240k is a very different animal from DC. Sure there are unique characters but most people only want figures from the specific faction they play, and even they they already spend hundreds of dollars for an army and enjoy painting them so having a seven inch poorly painted version isn't going to hold much appeal. The DC line relies on fans collecting versions of the characters they don't already have but 40k isn't about that, even as a Black Templars player I wouldn't be interested in a High Marshall Helbrecht figure I'd just buy a fancy mini and have fun painting him to be my own chapter master.
I also have an Adeptus Astartes army but Todd's version looks so fucking awful and underpainted that I'll never buy it. The JoyToy ones are a little better, but it's the same issue of "I already spent a thousand dollars on an army, why would I want something I can't use and looks awful?"
A lot of people in this general get excited over toys that look like absolute ass, and I get it, they probably don't paint or have any creative abilities so they're used to having to settle for whatever comes out of the box. 40k players are going to be comparing the toys to their own minis and Todd's paint jobs are fucking abysmal.
