In the 90s, i thought i was a genius for actually talking to store employees and gettign them to tell me when they'd get new shipments for STar Wars toys. I managed to convince my mom one summer morning to take me to ToysRUs before it opened and i had to race against 5 adults to finally get a Speeder Bike.
Kids shouldn't that shit, and it's why eventually Walmarts, TRUs and KBs started punching holes in their toys packaging, because it would deter resellers from buying shit.
Not quite a common practice, it was widespreed on and off for almost a decade depending on the manager across the US.
