Sofubi joints have a lip and grove system where the male and female ends interlock. This is to prevent them from coming apart, but as a result the sculpt, especially on smaller figures, can end up bowing slightly and exaggerating the gap. Larger figures aren't as prone to this because their weight presses the halves together and the greater amount of vinyl lets it have more room to flex.
