Plastic hair is extremely common especially in male dolls, you can see them in the attached Potter line and some Monster High figures. I have this same complaint with DOA.
The arguments against those figures I could see is that they aren't really common dolls you'd find at wallmart for 15 bucks, but hundred dollar collector's items you have to order online. Then again, so are several dolls posted here.
Some of my older porcelain dolls would also disagree with the "easy to swap clothing" bit, but it does distance them further from mainline figures.
