Most of the work was just in how I cleaned up the excess paint. Many retries.
For the tiny slots in the head I would mainly wipe parallel to them, as the grooves where certainly deep enough to catch the paint. For the hands, I would just fill them with paint and wipe down towards the fingers.
Lots of thinner and qtips where involved, but I don't know yet if I'm entirely satisfied with what I've done so far.
