My advice is get a security clearance and get on with a major government contractor like booz allen, caci, arma, lockheed, etc etc . The money is there. Before I worked as a contractor I made 46k you'll might have to pay a few years of dues but it'll be worth it. I know guys doing dev ops making 250k.
Also get an internship with a cs company as soon as you can preferably with on a military/contractor project to help get said clearance. They do them often both as a tax write-off and for talent growing
