I always seem to have trouble using putty, it doesnt really fully fill in the gaps of wing roots etc. (even when applied several times over the course of the day). I use Tamiya putty (thinned with lacquer thinner) and Vallejo putty (thinned with water) and it doesnt seem to do a whole lot beyond maybe a tiny bit. meanwhile I see videos on YouTube and it seems to work flawlessly and work great.
is there some sort of secret I'm missing or is this a common issue for new retards like myself?

so after some initial testing I've determined my shitty compressor just doesn't have the PSI required to do basecoating. which is weird, because I've watched videos on YouTube of modelers using this compressor, and while it certainly isn't great, it's at least adequate for basecoating or just laying down one big coat of paint.
Now I guess I'm on the hunt for a cheap compressor capable of higher PSI.
