>>5720134>Honestly tho between Steven Universe and this I'm dying to know if making molds is better than priming/sanding or whether using gesso/ modpodge to fill out 'sandpaper texture' lines is the move. The only reason I made molds of Steven was to avoid joint rub on paint, I had most of the materials handy from a job I just finished up. The molds themselves don't dull the lap lines, and there was no "sandpaper texture" to speak of. You pretty much only find that on SLS prints like Shapeways 'Strong Flexible" material.
Everything on Steven was printed on my b9 creator at a layer height of 50 microns with the exception of the torso which was done on my Wanhao Duplicator i3 at 200 microns out of white pla.
All the b9 parts of Steven were lightly sanded with 600 grit paper to dull the lap lines, this was after the post cure. I hit the face with about 2 coats of automotive filler primer and buffed it smooth with a microfiber cloth. The PLA body was sanded as smooth as I could get it, covered in Tamiya model putty, and sanded again, then I hit it with the same filler primer and buffed it smooth.
Oh I guess I used primer on the hair too.
I should add that I have to hit the b9 prints with 2-3 coats of adhesion promoter, otherwise the primer peels right off.
