I use to work with a woman who told me that roughly every six months she would have her kids round up all the toys that they didn't want anymore and just throw them in the garbage. Not even making the effort to donate them to Op shop/thrift store.
Speaking as someone who still has almost all their childhood toys, this just boggles my mind.
