>>10407777Oh, I recognize that terminology from abnormal psych and personal wiki-walk research.
Sounds like that person probably has some variety of Disassociate Identity Disorder (also known as Split personality disorder) Basically, think Moon-knight but without the Egyptian God involvement. (Full visual hallucinations of inactive Alter-personalities, like in that show, are admittedly pretty rare though.)
(Honestly most media depicts the disorder horrifically and awfully wrong, so I wouldn’t recommend basing what you think of it off of what you’ve seen in any movies or shows.)
Modern psychology is actually fairly sure that DID is a real, though moderately rare thing. It pretty much 100% of the time arises as a response to prolonged and severe trauma during formative years of the person’s childhood. The psyche essentially fragments as a protection and coping mechanism.
It’s also essentially “incurable” as far as psychiatrists can tell, with the modern approach being to instead teach the person how to stabilize and work around/with the condition. Realistically the Plural self label/identification may actually be completely accurate, and the person themselves is probably harmless.
