>>8641982When I did read their intentions I felt pretty disheartened but that doesn't make those documents any less true.
Stories that are pre-planned are almost always better than shit that is just made up as you go. The only instances when this isn't the case is when you are restricted by something that's outside of your control and then regain your autonomy of the project perhaps later or you are unskilled writer and learn as your project progresses.
But even then I'd argue a preplanned story by a skilled writer is better as they occur more naturally and the events are more believably built towards.
A stupid person might think that "but surprises are cool!" is an effective argument but the main point of writing is to sell the world and it's characters in most cases. A surprise is cool but realizing in the back of your mind how it was built towards without even realizing it before the event happens is way "cooler".
I know that at this point this goes somewhat heavily off-topic but G2 deploying the "write shit as you go with no pre-plan whatsoever" approach makes theorizing about future events very pointless as the writers had no intention to pursue it in the first place. An element of surprise is fine and should exist here and there but objectively the Vahi is the most important part of plot as it's there to determine the events prior to everything and possibly after this imaginary story in the imaginary 2018 that would had been or so.
Ryder Windham lamented the story bible as one of the more bare bones things he's had to witness. I feel like theorizing about potential things in G2 is not something it frankly even deserves given the lack of interest by the people responsible of making it aside the visual representation, which is part of the story and lore, but it isn't enough to make up for the significant lack of both.
