Just finished assembling the main part of this RG GP01, really fun build. So much engineering in this thing, pretty much every single step includes cleverly placed gating to hide nub marks, or some little adjustment to move a part after it's put together. The only part I ended up having trouble with somehow was placing the red piece over the v-fin, nearly ended up hamhanding the fins in half but it turned out alright.
Now the downside to having so many individual parts for a 1/144, it's fiddly as fuck. I've only made one MG kit, the 3.0 Gundam, but that was quite solid. Due to the way the core fighter exists as the central part of the torso as well as the backpack attachment, any adjustment to the main body of the kit has to be done really carefully or
A. the chest assembly will separate from the core fighter
B. the core fighter will separate from the waist assembly
Now I'm not a perfectionist by any means, that's why I like the fact that the overwhelming amount of detail on a RG kit kind of overshadows the small imperfections, or at least that's what I've convinced myself.
