So, tonight marked the start of a new Arena season. The first match of the season was unironically what will be seen as one of the biggest match-ups of the 2v2 bracket for the entire season:
Team 1 - "The Power of Chaos" (He-Man and Warrior-Man) VS Team 2 - "Dark Venom" (Skeletor and Anti-He-Man) [The lame pvp team names are a deliberate choice based on most video game pvp teams giving themselves dumb names]
It was an interesting match.
- Out of the gate Skeletor CC'd He-Man locking him into a Spectral Force Cage while Anti-He-Man focused on Warrior-Man.
- Skeletor attempted to banish He-Man to the Negative Zone at the end of the Spectral Force Cage, but He-Man used his Power Sword to interrupt. Meanwhile Anti-He-Man kept wearing down Warrior-Man who was clearly outclassed.
- Skeletor unexpectedly switched to attacking Warrior-Man and a combination of Skeletor's magic and Anti-He-Man's attacks was able to finish him off while He-Man was basically just helplessly watching.
- The second 2v1 phase is where it got interesting. Skeletor was overconfident and ordered Anti-He-Man to stay back and watch while he destroyed He-Man. He-Man was of course able to capitalize on it and he easily disarmed Skeletor, claiming Skeletor's half of the Power Sword for himself. For context, never before has the Power Sword been united this early, let alone in the very first match of the season, so this could be a serious game changer.
- At the sight of He-Man wielding the completed Power Sword Skeletor used a pyramid teleportation spell to take himself out of bounds, removing himself from competition this round.
