>>10380752While I loved the P1/P2 design philosophy, I wouldn't go as far as to say they were the only ones with coherent growths.
I liked how the Plus series (Japanese Connections) handled evos, even if there was less overall to choose from compared to the international release.
Keitai Akai had a coherent fruit, and Japanese mythology theme to tie into Makkakka Town, with almost all the teens being fruit themed, and characters like Darumatchi and Tengutchi that were exclusive to it.
Entama splitting the evo lines into families was a very clever way of keeping consistency with growth charts. Kuchi family especially has a coherent theme, with the duckbilled designs being prominent from the getgo and the characters generally feeling like a natural progression. I feel like it did the best job with character designs beyond just adults, but that might also be because they had to tie it to the slice of life/school and jobs mechanic that specific entry had with the slower growth speed.
It's one of the few things I feel the English Connections changed to be more interesting gameplay-wise and meatier roster-wise at the cost of cohesion. The V2/V3 has about triple the amount of adults the Keitai/Akai has, but aesthetically feel somewhat random, and the V4 made the baby/child stage universal, but also made the growing up process more random seeming (along with having the shortest growths pre-modern era)
