Imagine if you were a collector in 2008, Marvel Legends line disapppearing and experiencing a 100% price increase in only 3 years for the few times they released a 6" figure.
>Everything prior to that was either a statue with pointless cut joints
LOL, only Japan. Whereas super articulated articulated collector toys have existed elsewhere since the early 00s.
As i said before, a few companies didn't reach their peak until later (Figma in 2008, Revoltech ~2010, Figuarts 2009), but I'm talking about the industry as a whole
Point of the matter, the entire industry has gone downhill ever since Chinese peasants started revolting for improved slave labor conditions in around 2005. It's one of the reasons why Marvel left toy manufacturing, because they saw that price increases were beyond what they were comfortable with. The ramifcations from China's squalor life improving still hit GS, Kaiyodo and Bandai same as Hasbro, NECA, Mezco, etc. This is why Japanese lines have always had their price increases every single year from ~$21 in 2006 to ~$40, around the same time US toys doubled in price, while decreasing paint apps, accessories dwindling.
For many reasons, US children toy manufacturers had been able to maintain that $20 price point since 2014 until 2021. While collector companies couldnt
>Bandai ... revolutionized "realistic" people figures with their face printingLOL, no. Only Bandai "revolutionized" realistic people for Bandai with their face printing because they sucked ass. NECA, Kaiyodo, Diamond, and various other companies already had realistically, better painted figures since 2010, if not sooner (pic is from 2002)
>JoyToy has achieved incredibly high qualityJT is a rip off company. they charge $70-80 for 4.5" figures. Hiya releases higher quality, newly molded figures for only $20. Only time JT goes near that price point is when they just do redecos of old molds, and they still cost $30+
