>>7687693Agreed on all counts.
>>7687748Well, travellers have a few things going for them over the knights.
1) they're the og glyos, like you're never going beat the nostalgia. And he kind of just radiates good vibes, especially early pheydens.
2) the omnidirectional-ness of his upper limbs, both functionally and sculpt-wise. I think a major, major failing of the knights is that the upper limbs don't have a peg on each end like a traveller. With pheyden you can at the very least flip his upper legs so they have a bit of bend to them or reverse the upper arms so he can wave or whatever (or slav squat in pic related). Just a touch of poseability makes a big difference. If the various knights had like built in swing joints for knees, I'd probably buy all of them.
3) the sculpt just goes better with other glyos pieces and glyos is about building for a lot of people. Pheyden with some axis joints looks great. Adding articulation to a knight can be tricky and tends to look weird. If Jesse invested in like his own version of joints and add-on kits with more sculpted details, it would probably go a long long way.
All that said, I like the pizza knights (well, except the classic pizza knights, which kind of soured me on the whole line because they look real dumb). I don't go crazy for them like the diehard weirdos, but I appreciate them. And honestly, Jesse seems like a decent guy doing his own thing. His podcasts are interesting, he seems genuine and passionate about his stuff, and I like his involvement with the community he's built.
I'll unashamedly admit I back him on patreon, just like I would if Matt or even Marty had one. I can't not put my money where my mouth is and support indy toymakers that I think are doing something special. And I think glyos is very special. Also, I know that they're all trying to be as ethical as possible in their toy production; something that's pretty difficult in the modern world. Jesse has a real neat bit about in his last podcast.
