I just finished the wallpaper edit for the Power of the Jedi packaging. This one actually took me a lot more work in rebuilding elements. The packaging I took a scan of had plastic around the hook near Vader's helmet, along with the bubble for the figure being glued halfway up the "Power of the Jedi" text, so I had to tweak colours and repaint in sections to fix the difference in colour.
The biggest issue with doing these is the scan creates a higher res image to work with, but also preserves all the printing lines that isn't normally visible to the naked eye, so any change in the consistency of the grain throws off any new elements I paint in. So to get around that I ended up cloning a small section out from between one of the yellow beams to create a full background "texture plate" I also did the same for the black colour by using a larger section from the back of the card. After that any details I paint in I was able to tweak colour vibrancy and opacity to allow the print texture through. In the end the only details that I didn't touch at all were Obi-Wan and the main Star Wars logo.
I don't know if anyone actually care about all of this, I'm just somewhat proud of myself for managing to make this look halfway decent.
