>I'm not buying the others until I get her.Tons of people have pre-ordered Goliath. Way more than expected. People are interested. Maybe they'll make a full set of characters now that demand is apparent, maybe they'll stick to just the main five gargoyles plus Bronx.
Either way, in a year or two when hype starts to die down, they release Demona. Hype re-ignites. The hardcores who have been keeping tabs on the line start talking about the new toy, and both previous and new casuals hear about it. Now all the "old" gargoyle figures have even more value, because people who missed the boat are forced to buy their team with after-market prices.
People see Neca products selling for hundreds of dollars a figure. Brand recognition and acclaim go up. Neca seems like a good company to buy products from or invest it. No one wants to "miss the boat" again so they decide to finish their full team "just in case", maybe even buying characters they don't really care about.
A year or two after that, Neca produces repaints of the molds they already paid for "due to fan demand". They get positive press because "they listened to the fans" about how hard it was to complete the gargoyles team. Hype train starts all over again.
It's the best business decision they could make, honestly.
