Reading this thread just reinforces the fact that Marvel Legends has the worst toy fandom by a country mile.
Back on topic, Marvel Legends is failing because Hasbro won't (or can't, thanks to Disney) release products that satisfy their core audience: adult collectors. There are numerous examples of this, from bad quality control to no longer selling popular army builders, but the most obvious one is how Hasbro generally avoids releasing female figures with any genuine sex appeal. This manifests in various ways, from female figures having their costumes altered, to having their body type (particularly their chests) altered, or just avoiding sexy characters altogether. Meanwhile, there are entire companies gobbling up this horny toy buying market (for guys AND gals), while Hasbro keeps twiddling their thumbs and releasing an endless parade of boring 2-packs.
Don't believe me? If you look at the aftermarket prices for Marvel Legends released in the last year, three of the most expensive figures are Clea, Power Princess, and '97 Rogue. What could all these figures have in common, I wonder...?
Also, their business instincts have been in the toilet for years now. Releasing a paltry offering of X-Men '97 figures (nothing else even TEASED at SDCC) when everyone and their mother knows X-Men are having a huge media push by Disney really speaks to Hasbro's total financial ineptitude.
