I mean, Sailor Moon IS a classic and nostalgic series in Japan too, of course, but Precure has been on TV nonstop for more than 13 years straight with no end in sight. I'd argue that there's a good chance that nowadays the Precure fanbase is way bigger in Japan than the Sailor Moon one, and it's going to get bigger and bigger thanks to the nostalgia factor for the precious seasons and the fact that they're still releasing a new show each year. And not only most of the kids that started by the first show are adults now, there's always been a huge male adult fanbase too.
So yeah, I'm not that sure about the Sailor Moon fanbase being bigger, at the very least in Japan.
