>>11330427to me, all that matters is the smooth feel, rather than the ratches. honestly it could be plastic so long as it creates a similar feeling to figma.
I feel like ratchets that are tight and malleable feel really cheap. it'd be one thing if it were metal ratches like soul of chogokin figures, but its just not. Domestic chuds cant handle that their figures feel like shit, regardless of how good they look. jada can put as much paint on their fifgures as they want, but its not going to make the figure have that hand candy feel.
>>11330443I think retro lines are really dumb in general. no one sells me 30 year old spoiled milk.
However, from a nostalgic persepctive any change is inherently negative. you are taking away the feel of the original toys and changing them.
this can work in motu if theres genuine improvement, such as adding more joints, but hasbro cheaping out defeats the purpose of re-releases.
>>11330456mmm ok, but that doesnt excuse mcfarlane figures having bad joints that wouldnt be acceptable in 2000, much less 2025. i love spawn. the spawn line is epic and really cool (atleast the selection i buy), but its marred by having weird gear ratchet joints, that just dont make any sense, and get loose in between ratchets. they simply dont feel as good as a cheap shf with silicon grease applied.
in conclusion i find alot of people are obsessed with how a figure "looks" because they never take them off the shelve, where im obsessed with how a figure moves, because i like posing and handling them. i dont think smooth joints are expensive. i think the only reason they arent used more often is because they arent "kid-proof". why should an adult collectible be "kid-proof?" I think growing up, i've realized the reality that marvel legends are built to sell to a 13 year old audience that doesnt exist, and are mostly bought out by ravenous adults to display on a shelf, rather than ever be played with.
I filled up the character limit,
