Just the overall taste of the boards is pretty weak as they're basically the the major and current forms of entertainment, so you have to many topics of the flavor of the month and not enough diverse discussion. On /toy/ there is always a mix of the different brands with both Japanese and western toys, series, types, etc.
On something like /v/ you get the recurring bait posts and 20 threads dedicated to one flavor of the month that should mostly be going to their respective /vg/ topic.
The fact that you have to filter discussion is just sad, in my opinion.

Most new sets don't have the charm or imagination of older sets, but some are really good. Some of these new SW sets are pretty weak, and only the micro fighters and larger ships really appeal to me.
