Stuff like Marvel Legends is a mix of kids and adults (most of the audience I've seen for ML are adults, but I know kids buy it too). Lego is almost entirely kids except for stuff like the $500+ Collectors Edition sets (unless a kid really saves up). More higher end and adult themed toys (McFarlane, etc.) are more targeted at adults though.
Phones aren't too blame. Toys are still popular, just that kids have a wider access to other venues of entertainment than before, which hurts toy sales a bit since it's not getting that revenue as much. I don't know, just my two cents.
